How can I survive in the Lowlands?

How can I survive in a place like this
With such a lack of togetherness?

There is so much loneliness amongst the people
It seems they don’t understand the needs of the heart

How can I love a poor country like this
Where people don’t want to know their neighbours?

I thought this was the First World
But I see great mental poverty

I see material wealth being gathered
At the cost of love and awareness

How can they be so lost?
Why did they shatter their own dreams?

Providing the needs of the ego
Ignoring the needs of the soul

How can it be that they are so many
And we, seeing all of this, we are so few
